CHAIRING MEETINGS

This introductory one-day course on Chairing Meetings is intended mainly for qualified social workers but is accessible to most social care staff in a position where learning Chairing skills is desirable such as in managing Core Groups, Planning meetings and so on. The course is adaptable for staff working in adult Community Care or Mental Health.

Learning Objectives: Chairing Meetings (1 day)

• Develop understanding of the role of the Chair in running meetings

• Develop skills in Chairing and managing groups

• Develop skills in managing “difficult customers”

• Develop skills in communication, and including enabling others to communicate
  effectively

• Develop skills in the analysis and synthesis of information

• Develop understanding on interventions as distinct from outcomes

• Develop skills in outcome / goal formulation

• Develop skills in decision-making
