CHILD DEVELOPMENT

This is a two day (two part) course on the fundamentals of child development. We are sometimes asked if we could run a one day "all inclusive" child development course. To be honest, we regard the concept of a one day course on this subject as nonsense although we are happy to run this course as two separate days. This two day course is so packed that we struggle to get through it but we regard every aspect as essential knowledge for social care staff working with children and young people. The course includes comprehensive handout materials.

Child Development Part A Learning Objectives:

  • Brain Development 

  • Basics of Attachment

  • Emotional Development

  • Personality and the Self: Personal Identity

  • Family and Cultural Identity

  • Social Identity and Social Functioning

Child Development Part B Learning Objectives:

  • Cognitive & Perceptual Development

  • The concept of "Core Knowledge"

  • Language Development

  • Physical Development

  • Sexual Development

  • Moral Development

  • Spiritual Development (interpreted in the broadest sense)
