MENTAL HEALTH & CHILD PROTECTION

Please see our Risk Options section

This is a two day course (LSCB or staff) but can be offered as an intensive one day LSCB course which is packed (some aspects have to omitted) full. A comprehensive Handout accompanies the course together with detailed MH&CP Risk Assessment Tools. The course is intended to be run as a multi-agency training with both C&F and Adult MH personnel present. It can be run as single agency but we would need to know this beforehand. It is also available in a LSCB training one day version.

Mental ill health features prominently in child death tragedy cases (see Osiris Error Theory course) and can present difficulties for Mental health staff working with adult cases where children are involved and vice versa for Children's social work staff. This course is intended to provide different staff groups with a perspective on how each "side" operates and a clear picture of what information is required in order to adequately safeguard and promote the child's welfare. The training includes an Osiris "Risk Assessment Tool" designed to assist staff from whatever discipline assess levels of risk.
