ABOUT US & OUR HISTORYThis question is also answered in terms of the mini-CVs to be found on the Directors pages (see below). However, Osiris Training & Consultancy was formed first as a Partnership in April 1998 by the Directors: Judith Tuck and Alan Cooper. At this time, both Judith and Alan worked for Greenwich Social Services in London. Judith was employed as a Senior Practitioner in a Children & Families Referral and Assessment team but seconded as Project Manager for Looked After Children (LAC). She later became Team Manager in a Referral and Assessment Team. Alan was Senior Training Officer for Children & Families. Alan and Judith met when the Department of Health (DoH - our then Government "boss") brought in the series of Forms and Tools known as the Looked After Children system which later transformed into the Integrated Children's System. Judith's first task as Project Manager for LAC (1995) was to assemble an internal training team to roll out the DoH materials across the Department and beyond. Alan virtually re-wrote from scratch the DoH's training package which all the training team thought was dreadful. The result was that we constructed a new package that our trainers could believe in and the resultant across-the-board training for hundreds of Greenwich staff and related agencies was a resounding success culminating in the Good Parenting for Looked After Children Conference (1998) which was attended by representatives from many other Local Authorities and agencies. By this time, Alan and Judith had found they worked very well together and it seemed a pity to let all that joint effort go by as we went our separate ways. So we decided to think and plan a joint training enterprise. We spent several months planning and then advertising our new venture and we finally got our first training job as Osiris Training in November 1998. Since 1998 we have trained in a considerable number of Local Authorities all over the U.K., we have trained Schools, Health professionals and independent and charitable organisations. The Director's became full time in January 2001, by which time Osiris had become so busy that we could no longer maintain our jobs together with our Osiris training work. So we gave up our jobs. Osiris Training changed from a Partnership to Limited Company status on 12th February 2003. Both Directors jointly own the company. Our latest development is Osiris College which we formed 2011 due to the many enquiries we have had over the years from private individuals wanting to purchase places on our training although this has been (again) put "on hold" given the present dire economic climate in the UK. |
