RECORDING & REPORT WRITING (PART 1)
RECORDING & REPORT
WRITING (1 OR 2 DAYS) This one or two-day basic course covers the legislation relating to records: how long records must be kept and the Data Protection Act (1998) and Freedom of Information Act (2000) and access to records. The ability to communicate effectively is universally recognised as a necessary skill. We utilise various exercises to show how difficult this can be but also how important it is to learn and develop this skill. Included is a video exercise where this skill is tested via peer review and judgement. We include useful guidelines to help ensure effective reporting and recording. Although Court Reports are referenced, this course does NOT include detailed information about Court Work or Court Process which is taught in our Court Work course. A special version is available for Adult Care or Mental Health Workers. Please state which as this course cannot be made completely generic. This course is a precursor to the Children & Families Analysis and Assessment (Advanced Recording) course. Participants
attending this training will demonstrate:
·
Ability to present purposeful, relevant, succinct and coherent
reports in plain English which are
helpful to readers and ·
Ability to critically appraise own text and that of others · Ability to capture and communicate complexity arising from situations with multiple perspectives, and competing interests. ·
Develop an understanding of
the Agency’s procedures relating to Recording ·
Be able to write with the
reader in mind. ·
Be able to write clear and
structured reports that follow the Agency’s standard layout for the type of
report being written and which contain, where appropriate, an introduction,
evidenced material and a clearly articulated Agency argument (where required)
relating to this material and a conclusion containing a judgement which follows
from the argument adduced in the body of the Report. Course
