SEXUAL ABUSE 1 (VICTIMS)

This one day LSCB or internal staff seminar course covers the range of typical "Signs and Symptoms" displayed by sexual abuse victims. 

However, the main focus of the course is how sexual abuse can affect victims especially if it is persistent over an extended period of time. We look at how sexual abuse distorts trust and twists identity and self-understanding and how it can lead to severe forms of mental illness if untreated. 

Please note that no images of sexually abused children are shown on this (or any of our courses) although please note that this course and its equivalent on sex abuse perpetrators will never be available via Osiris College.

We look at treatment options including placement.

Learning Objectives:

  • Signs and Symptoms of sexual abuse (optional)

  • How sexual abuse can be so insidious in its effects

  • The need to stabilise the child and offer a  secure base.

  • Treatment options (short and long term)

We strongly recommend that this course is connected to Attachment Theory training.
