SOCIAL HISTORY FORMATA full social history is an absolute requirement for any Assessment. At a minimum it should include: Genogram (ideally the full transgenerational analytic version with analysed relationships) Details family of origin and address history (both sides) Family and wider culture Early life experiences Attachment styles / patterns in the family (both sides) Quality of parenting received Social experiences and networks Educational history Medical history Relationship history Occupational history Criminal history Family history (both sides) of pregnancy Family history (both sides) of child development Peer and sibling relationships (both sides and current children if any) Substance abuse Mental ill health (includes “nervous breakdowns” and depression / anxiety) Levels of impulsivity Ability to manage anger and irritation Levels of self-esteem Levels of social skills and social competence Co-operation and Motivation. These are NOT the same thing – the former is behavioural and the latter “intentional” - to do with beliefs, reasons and desire and the unconscious dimensions underlying these aspects. It is easy to mistake "co-operation" especially when it is "disguised" but it is never easy to assess motivation, e.g. "disguised compliance" is motivated by other hidden beliefs / reasons etc. Detailed Risk Assessment strengths and weaknesses and mitigating strengths. What happens if nothing is done? What intervention possibilities exist and how will they address weaknesses? What outcome(s) is intended and how is it specified (made testable)? |
